Mariner Software Releases Mariner Write Public Beta

Minneapolis, MN – February 17, 2003 -Mariner Software today announced the availability of Mariner Write 3.1 Public Beta, a preview version of Mariner’s flagship product. Introducing breakthrough translation technology, Mariner has now integrated “read” functionality of Microsoft Word files. In addition, OS X Services support and contextual menu spelling suggestions have also been added.

The program has been available for nearly a decade overseas, the new product, which is compatible with Macintosh OS 7.6 through Mac OS X, packages a tabbed layer interface, blazing speed, and incredibly powerful feature set, including the following:

Parsing a multitude of data streams in a Microsoft Word document, Mariner Write processes available data into memory rather than reading from slower disk access. The result is a substantial increase in translation processing speed when reading Microsoft Word-formatted documents.

“Our development team has put some major effort into this release,” said Michael Wray, President of Mariner Software. “In decoding the Microsoft Word proprietary format we’ve learned why many developers don’t have the resources to embark on such an endeavor; it’s difficult and tedious, and not to mention incredibly time consuming. Mariner Write 3.1 will help free a good percentage of the Mac market from buying other higher priced word processors by allowing them to work with Word documents sent to them by colleagues or coworkers.”
