Mariner Releases MacJournal 6.0

Minneapolis, MN – Journaling software has become a rich medium where personal experiences and events can be documented using not only text but images, audio, and video elements. In addition, journal entries often become the material for blog posts, and what was once the private experience of journal keeping, can now be shared with an audience. With the release of MacJournal 6.0, Mariner has taken the journaling and blogging experience to another level by adding many and varied enhancements and more power to this popular journaling and blogging software product for the Mac OS.

Since its release by Mariner in 2005, MacJournal has become the world’s most popular journaling software for the Mac. Completely redesigned for Lion, this new release is the most powerful and feature-rich version to date. Unlike the traditional writing journal, MacJournal 6 adds a Calendar mode that displays any or all entries; includes features for geolocation, word count and progress tracking; and provides additional blogging support. A Timeline mode has been added to give journal writers the ability to see writing activity in chronological order. MacJournal 6 even introduces a feature for creating books from journals specially formatted for publishing.

“MacJournal 6 takes journaling to a new level,” said Michael Wray, President of Mariner. “We added features that will appeal to nearly everyone who uses MacJournal to keep a journal for personal, school or business use.”

MacJournal 6 is one of the industry’s most flexible and versatile software app with which to write, organize and blog a personal journal. MacJournal allows users to add virtually any type of content—PDFs, QuickTime movies, images, text—even a YouTube video. Users can easily create a personal journal to record daily ideas, manage lists, and export them to multiple file formats. Journals can be kept private with MacJournal’s two level security of password protection and encryption. In addition, MacJournal has been designed to make it easy to post to blogs directly from within the application to supported sites such as Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal, Posterous and Tumblr. Also new to MacJournal 6 is support for uploading images to Imgur and Dropbox.

MacJournal 6 is available for sale and for trial as a download from the Mariner Software website only and will sell for $39.95USD. A boxed and Mac App Store version will be available in the near future. Registered MacJournal 4 and 5 customers can upgrade to MacJournal 6 for $19.95. MacJournal 6 requires Mac OS 10.6.8 or higher. This initial version of MacJournal 6 is in English only, other languages will be added at a later date. Free review copies of MacJournal 6.0 are available to the press.

  1. Greetings,

Congratulations on the release of MacJournal 6.0. I am currently a MacJournal 5.2 user and in a blog post regarding blogging on the Mac featured your software on my blog. I would be interested in writing a review of MacJournal 6.0 for my blog.

I would also be interested in scheduling someone to meet with my Mac User Group to talk about the software that Mariner has available and how they might be able to use that software if someone would be available on a weekend morning for a Skype or iChat video chat.

    1. Hi Paul –

Thank you for your comments! Please send an e-mail to mwray [at] mariner-archive.localhost for more info about reviewing MJ6 and to chat about the Mac User Group.

  2. So, I paid for the upgrade months ago before the release, and the release is supposedly out there, but “updating” says I’m up to date with 5.2.8, and I have had no communication sending me the newest version.

    What gives?
