“Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?”
I have been reading many articles and blog posts and comments regarding the new Mac App Store. The response to this latest attempt by Apple® for worldwide domination has been a blend of fear, anxiety and confusion mixed with dollar signs. Like Little Orphan Annie, who had some sort of eye defect and yet was able to observe the world around her, I too, while suffering from an obvious visual problem, have some insight on this subject.
“I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.”
Sure, there are a lot of unknowns from the developer side over the Mac App Store, but for the customer, it will be mostly goodness. I say mostly because the concern from the developer is over the potential disconnect between them and the customer. For Contourhead, it will be forging into new territory as well. However, I am not going to panic just yet. Iʼve been a Contourhead for a long time so I know a few things when it comes to working with Apple.
“Look Dave, I can see youʼre really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over…”
I expect it to be an evolution, just as Apple was when it was just a little seed in the Stevesʼ brains. Weʼll all know soon enough how to deal with such issues.
In the meantime, let us all contemplate a world where the mark of the beast will be in the form of a piece of fruit instead of a window.
