Two thousand and twelve.
Two thousand twelve.
Any way you want to say it, it is even weirder writing it. I remember as a small ribbon-headed child, we would tease each other:
“In 2000, you’re gonna be 40! That’s soooo old!”
There’s 2001 Space Odyssey from 1968.
and everyone said, “1968, that’s sooooo old!”
And then there are all those references in StarTrek to the year 20-something. Here we are, on the cusp of 2012 and the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 isn’t even talked about much less included in NASA’s budget.
We still have NASA, don’t we?
My favorite foray into the future lies with the Jetson family. Unlike Jean Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise, the Jetson’s are a family that is still relatively normal and appears to have fun together. I’d rather have that kind of life in the future than the prospect of battling the Borg.
Regardless of your view of the future, Contourhead and the folks at Mariner wish everyone a good and prosperous New Year.
Live long and prosper…
