When the Mariner team sees a great thing, we like to share it with our readers. Did you know that only 7% of working film directors are women? Help support the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and help make this film, SILK, a reality.

Having been selected as one of eight filmmakers to participate in the AFI Directing Workshop for Women, actress Catherine Dent (THE SHIELD, THE MENTALIST) will direct the short film SILK in summer 2012. SILK tells the story of Rani, who at the age of 12 was given away by her father and forced to marry a man 20 years her senior in order to settle a family dispute. Now a middle-age woman living in America and married to an old man she never loved, Rani may have found the perfect opportunity to finally escape a life that was never her own. Co-writers Dent and Eyal Alony are both alumni of the Professional Programs at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, as are producers Brian Kirchoff and Grace Feeney. The filmmakers have set up a Kickstarter campaign at
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1216677099/silk and are asking for your generous help in backing this project either with a pledge or by sharing the Kickstarter link on Facebook and Twitter.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
